    Application Process

    Updated: April 2026

    Housing Priority (Students)

Not all applicants will receive housing, as demand exceeds availability. Housing offers are made based on availability. Priority is first granted to applicants who are married, have children, or are 25 years of age or older.

Beginning Summer Quarter 2026, all other eligible applicants will be considered through a randomized lottery system, followed by housing preferences and availability.

    Eligibility (Students)

All applications are reviewed after the application window closes to confirm eligibility.

To be eligible for Village Housing, students must:

    • Submit a housing application during the designated 48-hour application window for that quarter, and
    • Be in good standing with the university, and
    • Be enrolled full-time in degree-track or equivalent coursework (audit courses do not apply), and
    • Meet at least one of the following:
      • Be 22 years of age or older, or
      • Have completed 136 academic credits, or
      • Have an approved Housing Exemption Request on file

Students who do not meet eligibility requirements will be notified via their university email, and their application will be canceled.

    Housing Offers (Students)

Housing offers are extended in waves via university email after eligibility review and the lottery process are complete.

    Process order:

    1. Eligibility review
    2. Priority applicants housed
    3. Lottery conducted for remaining applicants

All lottery participants have equal placement opportunity.

    Application Requirement

    • Applications open once per quarter for a 48-hour period
    • Students must apply during this window to be considered for housing

Important: Due to high demand and limited availability, all students—including those intending to be roommates—must apply each quarter. Students who do not apply during the application window are not eligible for housing or roommate participation for that quarter.

    Ongoing Application Requirement

    • Once a student receives and accepts a housing assignment, they are no longer required to reapply
    • Students who have not received a housing offer must apply each quarter to remain eligible
    • This continues until the student accepts a housing assignment, or is confirmed as an approved roommate

Students who do not reapply will not be considered for that quarter.

    Accepting an Offer

When a housing offer is extended, students will have a specified number of days to accept or decline.

Village Housing continues making offers until all anticipated vacancies are filled.

Students who do not receive housing may reapply for the following quarter.

    Reserving Your Housing Assignment

Once a housing assignment is accepted, students will receive an email with required next steps, including:

    • Village Housing Administrative Fee
      • $250 for single occupant in a 1-bedroom OR each occupant in a shared property with 2+ bedrooms
      • $500 for married couples or families
    • Student Financial Services Approval
    • Completion of the D2L Campus Housing Workshop

    Roommates (Students)

Students who receive a housing offer become the primary resident and may select their own roommate(s) up to a designated deadline each quarter. If a roommate is not selected by the deadline, Village Housing will assign roommate(s) from the housing waitlist.

    Important Requirement

Due to high demand and limited availability:

    • All roommate options must have a current housing application on file for that quarter
    • Students who miss the application window are not eligible to be added as a roommate for that quarter

    Vacant Bedroom Timeline

    If a bedroom becomes vacant:

    • Fall Quarter: Roommate must be identified by September 1
    • All other quarters: Within two weeks of the vacancy date

If no eligible roommate is identified, Village Housing will assign a roommate from the waitlist.

    Roommate Eligibility Criteria

    All roommates must:

    • Have a current Village Housing application on file, and
    • Meet at least one of the following:
      • Be 22 years of age or older, or
      • Have completed 136 academic credits, or
      • Have an approved Housing Exemption Request on file

Vacant bedrooms may not be held while Housing Exemption Requests are under review.

    Finding a Roommate

    • A code matching system is used within the housing application
    • Students may share or enter roommate codes for approval
    • Primary residents may also email roommate approvals to the Village Housing office
    • The Housing office maintains an internal roommate interest list as a courtesy
