Academic Programs

The Walla Walla University Department of Physics offers two bachelor of science degrees, and one minor. These programs offer a strong curriculum meant to prepare students for choice careers in their field or for graduate study.

Physics Major (Bachelor of Science)

Students who earn a B.S. in physics are prepared for graduate study, or careers in applied or basic research. They earn a strong background for graduate study in physics or related areas of electrical engineering, computer science, materials science, and environmental science. A minor in mathematics is automatically completed by fulfilling the requirements for this major. This degree should be chosen by students pursuing advanced study in experimental or theoretical physics.

Biophysics Major (Bachelor of Science)

Students who earn a B.S. in biophysics are best prepared for a career in medicine or research, and in molecular biology. They develop a strong foundation for advanced study into the physics of living systems. Biophysics includes a strong mathematical preparation coupled with problem solving skills and an understanding of fundamental physical processes.
