The School of Education and Psychology commits to teaching excellence and fostering equity and diversity, with the aim of promoting the development of Christ-like character and skills for success in all areas of life.
Education Student Learning Outcomes:
- Students demonstrate competence in contemporary teaching and learning according to national and state standards in the areas specific to their endorsements.
- Students are equipped with knowledge, skills and tools necessary to work in inclusive classrooms and be responsive to identified needs.
- Students engage in field experience and clinical practice in diverse settings.
- Students develop an understanding of pedagogies and educational philosophies that integrate faith and learning.
Psychology Student Learning Outcomes:
Aligned with the learning objectives of the American Psychological Association, students studying psychology at WWU will:
- Develop a Knowledge Base in Psychology: Identify the major concepts, theories, research findings, and trends in the study of psychology.
- Demonstrate Critical Thinking Skills in Psychology: Recognize and engage in critical thinking to solve problems related to the study of behavior and mental processes.
- Engage in Research Methods of Psychology: Employ scientific inquiry through an understanding of basic research methods in psychology.
- Apply Principles of Psychology: Understand and apply psychological concepts to personal, social, and organizational processes.
- Integrate the Ethical Principles of Psychology: Practice beneficence and non-maleficence, fidelity and responsibility, integrity, justice, and respect for people’s rights and dignity.
Students studying psychology at the School of Education and Psychology at Walla Walla University are encouraged to examine and explore all concepts in the context of their own personal faith and religious or spiritual beliefs.
