On Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 4 p.m. in the Walla Walla University Church, the Department of Music Choir and Orchestra Winter concert will be presented by the Walla Walla University Symphony Orchestra, University Singers, and ICantori of WWU. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
A variety of pieces will be presented by the ensembles, including classical orchestral arrangements by composers, Mendelssohn, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Dragonetti. Choral pieces will include several spirituals and gospel pieces which the choir learned during Black History Month. These choral titles include “My Soul’s Been Anchored” by Moses Hogan and “Soon-Ah Will Be Done” by William Dawson. Other choral selections include “Jesu, the Very Thought of Thee” by Paul Halley and “Alleluia” by Jake Runestad.
Several pieces will feature student soloists including Noah Recalde, Macy Moon, Kayla Santos, Madelyn Carlton, Brianna Bryan, Abbey Threadgill, Julia Rivera, Madeline Stone, Christopher Kime, Carson Schmidt, Donovan Corbin, and Daniel Stratte.
The choir and orchestra will perform several pieces together including, “Anthem of Praise” by Richard Smallwood, and “Praise to the Lord” arranged by Dan Forrest.
