Kraig Scott to present organ recital featuring works by Bach, Handel, and others

Kraig Scott, Walla Walla University professor of music, will present an organ recital on Saturday, Oct.12, at 7 p.m. in the Walla Walla University Church.

“This recital is about the unparalleled greatness of Johann Sebastian Bach,” said Scott, who will be performing several pieces by the composer. “‘Canonic Variations on “Vom Himmel hoch, da komm ich her”’ provides a particularly apt demonstration of why Bach is the great composer so many people often claim him to be.”

The recital will also feature works by George Frideric Handel, Dietrich Buxtehude, William Albright, and others.

Scott conducts choirs at WWU and teaches harpsichord and organ. He is also the minister of music at the University Church where he also serves as organist. Scott has made multiple recital appearances in Europe, North America, and the Far East. He has presented master classes at multiple colleges and universities across the United States and for the American Guild of Organists.

The University Church is located at 212 S.W. 4th St., College Place. Admission to the recital is free and open to the public.
