Elementary School Exploratory (EDUC 247) is a three-week practicum in an elementary school classroom, designed to acquaint the student with teacher responsibilities for planning, organizing, and launching a new school year. Students are required to submit an application to the exploratory-experience director (Smith Hall 207) by April 15. The practicum begins one week before the elementary school starts in the fall and continues through the first two weeks of school for a total of 15 school days. Prerequisites: EDUC 210 and Washington State Patrol clearance on file in the School of Education and Psychology office. Graded S or NC.

Secondary School Exploratory (EDUC 267) is a 30-hour practicum in a public middle school classroom. The exploratory experience is designed to acquaint the student with student behavior and teacher responsibilities for planning, implementing, and managing the instructional program at the assigned grade level. Prerequisites: EDUC 210 and Washington State Patrol clearance on file in the School of Education and Psychology office. Graded S or NC.
