The Walla Walla University campus family gathered online on May 19 to celebrate student and faculty academic achievements and scholarships awarded for the 2020-21 academic year. WWU President John McVay led the celebration, which was attended via Zoom by students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other friends of the university.
As a result of the generous contributions of WWU alumni and friends, $723,013.15 in scholarship funds were awarded to 632 WWU students through 213 scholarship funds for the 2020-21 academic year.
Thirteen members of the WWU faculty and staff were honored during the program for exemplifying the WWU core themes of excellence in thought, generosity in service, beauty in expression, and faith in God. Their areas of expertise encompass a broad spectrum from art to engineering and from social media to theology. Read about each award and the recipients at wallawalla.edu/recognition.
During the program, McVay interviewed faculty and students about academic projects and presentations on topics ranging from glass recycling to salsa gardens and from telling Bible stories in French in Chad to the impact of diet on neurotransmitter production.
