The Walla Walla University Department of Music will present their annual Christmas concert at the University Church on Friday, Dec. 10. The first performance will begin at 6 p.m. and a second performance at 8 p.m. Due to COVID-19, attendance will be limited and tickets are required to attend either concert. Tickets are free and available online at wallawalla.edu/concert. Masks are required for all attendees.
The concert will feature the Symphony Orchestra, String Quartet, University Singers, and ICantori with special participation by guest soloist, soprano Arwen Myers. She is known for her solo performances across the U.S. and beyond.
The program will also feature WWU students and faculty including soprano Hannah Gordon, senior music and secondary education major; pianist Jinhyang Park, assistant professor of music; and violinist Amanda Kitto, freshman exercise science and music major.
The theme of the concert is “O Come” and surrounds the invitation extended in the 1743 Christmas carol, “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” This horizontal or human to human invitation is coupled with a vertical or human to heaven invitation that is found in the carol, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.”
The Walla Walla University Church is located at 212 SW 4th Street., College Place, WA.
