Looking for the Student Awards Celebration?
Faculty and staff members are nominated in recognition of their outstanding service to Walla Walla University and their embodiment of its principles in daily life.
Awards recipients are announced during Awards CommUnity on the third Friday of April, during Alumni Weekend.
Any member of the Walla Walla University community may submit a nomination or supporting letter. Students are especially encouraged to nominate anyone who has made a special contribution to their education. The deadline for nominations is the Sunday before Spring quarter classes begin. Nominations are processed by the respective awards committee for recipient selection.
Awards and recognitions
Community Service Award
Awarded to a faculty or staff member who exemplifies generosity of service to the community.
Distinguished Faculty Lecturer
Selected because of all-around excellence in teaching and scholarship, as well as involvement in church and community.

Diversity and Inclusion Award
Given to an employee who demonstrates meritorious service in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, as recognized by the Diversity and Inclusion Council.
Presidential Award for Excellence in Scholarship
Presented for significant and meritorious achievement in professional scholarship.

Rising Staff Member of the Year Award
Given in recognition of the energy, enthusiasm, knowledge, and innovative ideas a new employee brings to the workplace.
School of Business Teaching Award
Given to a School of Business faculty member for outstanding teaching, mentoring, and advising.
Staff Member of the Year Award
In recognition of an hourly and a salaried employee who exemplify outstanding dedication, competence, and performance, as well as excellent customer service.
Stephen and Margaret Tan Engineering and Computer Science Excellence in Teaching Award
In recognition of teaching excellence in engineering or computer science.
Walla Walla University Excellence in Advising Award
Granted for outstanding student advising on the basis of student evaluations.
Award selection committee membership
The membership of the Faculty Awards Committee is composed of the vice president for academic administration, the associate vice president for academic administration, the associate vice president for graduate studies, the chair of rank and tenure committee, the chair of faculty development committee, and the previous year’s award recipients of the excellence in teaching and excellence in scholarship award.
The membership of the Staff Recognition Awards Selection Committee is composed of chair of staff council, HR director, administration representative, an hourly employee selected by staff council, previous year's award recipient.
