Student Insurance
Walla Walla University believes that insurance is extremely important for all students. All undergraduate and graduate students (including international students) must be covered by a health insurance plan. Students are responsible for obtaining and maintaining their health insurance. The College Place Health Clinic is run by Columbia Health System, so be sure to check your health insurance plan to see if they are in-network providers, or consider other health insurance plans via the links below.
If you do not currently have insurance that provides coverage in Walla Walla, here are resources to assist you in obtaining insurance for the upcoming academic year.
Health Insurance
For residents on our campuses
Visit these online marketplaces to compare and enroll in health insurance:
- Washington (College Place campus): www.wahealthplanfinder.org
- Oregon (Portland campus): www.oregonhealthcare.gov
- Montana (Missoula and Billings campuses): www.healthinsurance.org/montana-state-health-insurance-exchange/
For non-Washington US residents
Research your state health insurance exchange and purchase a policy with “out of network” benefits or purchase a “multi-state plan.” More information about health plans and exchanges can be found at www.healthcare.gov.
For international students
At Walla Walla University, we are committed to ensuring your health and safety as part of our university community.
Unfortunately, many international students have encountered difficulties accessing medical care due to a lack of health insurance or because their independently purchased insurance is not accepted by local healthcare providers. To address this issue, we have partnered with LewerMark Insurance to offer a reliable medical insurance plan specifically designed for our international students. This partnership ensures you will receive the necessary care without the burden of unexpected medical expenses.
As an F1 Visa student at WWU, enrollment in this insurance plan is mandatory. The annual premium is $1,500, which will be billed to your account in quarterly installments of $500. Thank you for being part of our community, and we are here to support you in your health and wellness needs.
