Academic Programs

Our programs will give you the on-the-job skills and field experience employers are looking for. The School of Social Work and Sociology offers three social work degrees: a bachelor of social work, a master of social work, and a doctor of social work. We also offer minors in sociology and social welfare



Bachelor of Social Work

With a bachelor’s degree in social work, you will be prepared with the foundational knowledge and skills to work in a variety of practice settings such as community mental health, substance use, child welfare, women’s justice, juvenile justice, and more.

Master of Social Work (M.S.W.)

Earning a master of social work will enhance your critical thinking and sharpen your skills to provide therapeutic interventions and counseling services. You will be prepared to work in clinical settings with diverse clients in community mental health, private practice, psychiatric facilities, and other applications.

Doctor of Social Work (D.S.W.)

As an experienced social worker, you will engage in leadership roles or pursue teaching careers in higher education by earning a Doctor of Social Work. You will be given theory and practice opportunities to further your career and become a leader in your field.

Social welfare minor

A social welfare minor would be an excellent addition to any major if you are interested in social justice, human behavior, or how human development is impacted by society.

Sociology minor

By earning a sociology minor, you will build knowledge required for jobs in law, politics, criminology, public relations, public administration, and urban or regional planning.
