On Sunday, June 11, the Walla Walla University class of 2017 will march down the aisle on WWU Centennial Green to receive their diplomas. The commencement ceremony, which begins at 8:30 a.m., marks the final stop on the three-day graduation celebration.

Sir Patrick Linton Allen, governor-general of Jamaica and longtime Seventh-day Adventist, has been chosen as the commencement speaker this year. After earning his doctorate in educational administration and supervision from Andrews University in 1998, Allen turned to leadership in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He served as president of the West Indies Union of Seventh-day Adventists for over eight years before accepting the position of Jamaica’s governor-general. Allen, whose commencement address is titled “I Still Believe,” has committed his life to Christian service.

Friday, June 9, 8 p.m.
The senior class will present music and a message at the evening vespers program.

Baccalaureate, University Church
Saturday, June 10, 9:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.
There are two worship services on Sabbath morning. FirstServe, a relaxed service featuring contemporary praise music, begins at 9:30 a.m. Brian Roth, WWU professor of engineering, will be the speaker. Second Service, a traditional church service, begins at 11:45 a.m. Doug Bing, president of the Washington Conference and father of a graduating senior, will be the speaker.
