Marching instructions for Junior marshals (officers)
Four junior marshals (officers) are responsible for bearing flags, ushering the platform participants, and leading in the processions of graduate and undergraduate students. Two marshals will be assigned to each of the main ceremony aisles—two on the aisle closest to the library and two on the aisle closest to Sittner Hall. Each set of marshals will make the trip down their assigned aisle twice leading different groups to their places. This process is detailed below.
1. Sittner Hall aisle
When given the signal by the Commencement Marshal, the Junior marshals (officers) bearing the flags will march down the aisle closest to Sittner Hall leading the platform participants. Junior marshals will place the flags in front of the library and then return to the back of the commencement area to prepare to lead the processionals in step 3.
2. Library aisle
After the platform participants reach the front, Junior marshals (officers) stationed at the aisle closest to the library march in leading the faculty to their place in the section closest to the library and seating them starting at the front of the section and filling toward the back. The junior marshals then return to the back of the commencement area to prepare to lead the processionals in step 3.
3. Both aisles simultaneously.
The music will change and the Commencement Marshal will give the signal to the junior marshals (officers) to begin.
