Copyright Infringement Policy
Implemented: July 1, 2010
Information Technology reserves the right to deny network and internet access when legitimate copyright infringement claims are made against WWU operated public IP addresses.
First Offense:
The computer/network device is routed to a quarantined VLAN and a webpage explaining the offense is displayed when trying to resolve any public internet address.
The individual using the computer/network device must contact WWU's Information Technology department by calling (509) 527-2317. In most cases the technician can provide the name of the infringed work.
The computer must then be brought down to the Information Help Desk so that:
- The infringing work can be removed
- The torrent and/or file-sharing client can be removed
The port will then be re-enabled.
