Description
Pohnpei state, the capital of the Federated States of Micronesia, is a beautiful tropical island that is known for its exquisite waterfalls. The SDA school is a Pre-K to 12th grade school and has around 315 students that rely heavily on student missionaries to fill teaching positions.

Volunteers are given a monthly stipend and are responsible for their own food. There is a wide variety of food available. While local food consists mainly of fish, chicken, chicken katsu, noodles, and local produce, there are also many food options available for vegetarians. You can buy most food items at ACE Office which has tons of imported groceries or at the other stores located in various places throughout the island. There are also many restaurants on the island that serve American food.
Student missionaries will reside in one of the on-campus housing options. Anywhere between 2 and 5 SMs will share an apartment that is fully equipped with the necessities. Each bathroom has a shower, toilet, and sink but no warm water. There are typically 2-3 bedrooms with beds, closets, and shelving already provided. It also has a kitchen which includes a sink, oven, fridge, cabinets, and necessary dishes and appliances. There is a common laundry room with a washer and dryer shared among all residents.
